Low Back pain and your pregnancy

Many of my patient complaints about back pain. Now, back pain and pregnancy become hand in hand and not amazingly, there are a amount of physical argues why it occurs. This content will look at a few of them.

  1. Hormones. During gestation, hormones can soften ligaments causing a lot movement in the joints than usual and in a few cases, the ligaments are stretched along or strained.
  2. Uterus. The growing fetus in the uterus can cause changes in posture which result in lower back pain. As the entire area enlarges, force is put on the spine and vertebra.
  3. Position by fetus. Particularly in the later stages of development, the position of the foetus can compress nerves in the backbone, causing back pain.
